SHILLONG: Hynniewtrep National Youth Front (HNYF) Northern region has urged MDCs and MLAs to inspect PMGSY road built by Assam alleging it is encroaching upon  Meghalaya’s territory.

Speaking to reporters, president of HNYF, Northern region, Marcus Marten said there was also an attack at the house of the secretary of Hima Nongspung, Michael Warjri on Tuesday afternoon.

The daughter of Michael Warjri called up the leaders of HNYF to inform them that people working under the Assam contractors pelted stones.

He called up Warjri who responded to their calls but later when Marten called again, Warjri’s phone was switched off. In this connection, Marten immediately informed the District authorities in Ri-Bhoi.

It may be mentioned that Warjri was very vocal about Assam’s encroachment who opposed Assam’s construction works of bridges and roads.
