Accused in rape of minor absconds

TURA: Two men accused of sexually assaulting a minor in the plains belt region of West Garo Hills are on the run from police.

A 17 year old girl was returning home on Tuesday night when two young men accosted her on the Bholarbita road under Phulbari police station.

They forcibly took her to a forested area on the side of the road and committed the crime.

The girl narrated the ordeal to her family and a case was filed the next day after she identified the perpetrators.

The accused, identified as Zakirul and Ashidur, have been missing from their home since the rape incident took place and police have registered cases under the POCSO act against both the accused.
