Ex-gratia sought for three labourers

SHILLONG: Umroi legislator George Lyngdoh has asked the state government to provide ex-gratia of Rs 3 lakh each to the next of kin of the three labourers who drowned in a 60-foot deep ring well in Diengiong village, Mawdiangdiang in East Khasi Hills on Thursday morning.
In a petition to the chief minister, the MLA said the deceased belonged to the same family and were the only bread earners and the ex-gratia would provide necessary succour to the family.
The deceased are Banplielad Syiem (29), Lamphrang Lyngdoh (29) and Warless Kharsyntiew.
They were employed by contractor Kemel Marbaniang from Umroi and the well belonged to Marylis Mawrie of Diengiong.
