Jammu, May 10 (IANS) The Jammu-Srinagar highway remained closed for a second consecutive day on Friday due to landslides in Digdol area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Ramban district.

Traffic department officials said the highway was still closed for traffic as the landslide debris were still being cleared.

A massive landslide hit the highway on Thursday morning.

Officials said the clearing work could continue until the road was declared safe for the passage of vehicles and no vehicle would be permitted to move from either Banihal or Udhampur side.

Media reports said over 3,000 vehicles were stranded at various places on the nearly 300-kml highway because of the blockade.
