SHILLONG: The Hill State People’s Democratic Party (HSPDP) has made a clarion call to all the regional and local parties in the state to unite and work together as a one party.
It may be mentioned that other regional parties in the state, including the UDP too had made similar statements as it had spoken about unification of regional parties into one.
HSPDP adhoc president KP Pangniang said the party is not aware about any such move of unification of regional parties but the party believes that all the regional parties should be united.
On being asked about the not so impressive performance of the HSPDP in the last few elections, he said the party had just one MLA few years back and now it has two MLAs and two MDCs.
“There are always ups and downs in politics,” he said.
He, however, maintained that the party is preparing to build itself once again by re-organising and re-strengthening even as he added that the party has contributed a lot in the development of the state.
Currently, the party with its two MLAs, is supporting the MDA and one of its MLAs, Samlin Malngiang is also a PHE minister in the cabinet.
