SHILLONG: Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) MLA Adelbert Nongrum during an inspection has found that a reason for traffic congestion in the city is haphazard parking of vehicles on the roadside.
The MLA will write to the state government on his inspection in Motphran.
Nongrum along with police personnel and Shillong Municipal Board (SMB) officials inspected the Motphran road till taxi stand Mawiong and found that vehicles and two-wheelers parked on the roadside led to traffic congestion.
The group inspected the stretch from taxi stand of Mawlai till Motphran, taxi stand Mawprem, Bimola and found that vehicles and two wheelers besides vendors occupy a major chunk of the road disturbing flow of traffic.
The headman of Mawkhar and Wahthapbru, SP Traffic BD Marak along with the OC of Lumdiengjri were also present.
