BJP sure of winning Shillong seat

SHILLONG: The state BJP on Tuesday asserted the party will win the Shillong Lok Sabha seat while at the national level it would win at least 330-340 seats.
The results are scheduled to be declared on May 23.
BJP state president Shibun Lyngdoh told media persons here the party has done an assessment of its performance in the April 11 election in the state and is confident of winning the Shillong seat.
“For Shillong seat, we have high hopes that the people have voted for development,” he said.
Asked if CAB might have played spoilsport for the BJP in the region, he said that it was a non-issue as the government did not place the bill in Rajya Sabha following which it lapsed.
“it is a dead issue,” he added.
On the other hand, the party’s candidate for the Shillong seat, Sanbor Shullai, said the BJP will win at least 330-340 seats in the Lok Sabha elections.
Speaking to newsmen
after the meeting of the core committee of the party here, Shullai said , “ In the last election we got 282 seats and this time we will get 330-340 seats.”
The committee has even decided that a few members of the party from the state would head to Delhi soon after May 23 to celebrate the BJP’s victory in the elections.
