TURA: Displaying sheer guts in the face of threats and mental abuse, a seventeen-year-old girl mustered enough courage to report her stepfather to Tura police for sexually assaulting her.

The accused, a postal department employee and self-claimed businessman from Tura, allegedly committed the crime in 2017 while the girl, who was fifteen then, was asleep alone in her mother’s room in Tura.

Since then, he has reportedly been tormenting the young girl.

According to the FIR filed at the Tura Women Police station on Wednesday, the victim stated that her step father continued to torture her mentally with an intention to push her into taking her own life.

She further stated in her FIR that her step-father threatened to kill her if she revealed about the sexual assault case. Since the filing of the police FIR the accused has been absconding.

“The FIR has been registered and all search efforts are being carried out to nab him,” informed West Garo Hills Superintendent of Police MGR Kumar.
