SHILLONGThe teachers of deficit schools have not received their salary for the last 3 months – from March to May 2019.

This was informed by Khasi Jaintia Deficit School Teachers Association (KJDSTA) president, Babu Kular Khongjirem. He said, “If the government is really concerned about the welfare of teachers, it should release the three months salary with immediate effect.”

He said the SSLC result would soon be declared but the hard work of the teachers were not rewarded by the Education Department.

“Students, parents and guardians may enjoy and get excited after the SSLC result but poor teachers will be in a pitiable condition as no salary have been paid by the government,” he said.

The Executive committee meeting of KJDSTA held on Friday decided to meet the Director on May 24 to apprise him all the pending issues of the teachers.
