SHILLONG: A new era of molecular imaging begins in North East with the approval and commissioning of a modern Positron emission tomography (PET) CT scanner and Gallium68 Generator for Prostate-Specific Membrane Antigen (PSMA) Prostate cancer scan at Nucleomed, Guwahati, a release issued here said.
The project which was started one year back is ready for use on patients from may 22 and would be performed by prominent doctors, Nuclear pharmaceutical & Radiation Safety specialist and the head of the organisation Dr Kandarpa Saikia and Engineers of GE would be involve to run the setup. For the first time in a diagnostic setup the installation will help the Oncologist, Cardiologist and to the Neurologist to detect or follow-up of Cancer treatment, to look for Myocardial viability and to see the Epileptic focus on patients.
