Public health outreach programme held

NONGPOH: The office of the District Medical & Health Officer, Ri Bhoi on Friday organised a one-day Public Health outreach programme cum Ayush Health Camp sponsored by the National Ayush Mission at Bhoirymbong CHC.

The programme was attended by the local legislator of Umroi, George B Lyngdoh as chief guest in presence of the District Medical and Health Officer, Dr M Mawrie, doctors, headmen or nearby villages, ASHA workers and the locals.

 DR H Lanong, in-charge of AYUSH said that the Mission being launched by the Central Government aims at implementing the AYUSH way of life by adopting one village and herbal garden to provide easy access to services for the people through increase number of healthcare facilities, medicine and trained workers.Lyngdoh lauded the initiative taken by the Health Department for launching the programme as part of creating mass awareness among the people about the importance of Ayurvedic and Homeopathic medicines as a step to prevent and treat various kinds of illness for a better future.
