GUWAHATI: BR Life, a leading healthcare services brand of Abu Dhabi-headquartered BRS Ventures, has announced its foray into the healthcare sector of Northeast.
The company is coming up with an ultra-modern super-specialty hospital in Upper Assam’s Dibrugarh district, as part of an ambitious expansion plan across the region.
Official sources informed here on Saturday that the 250-bed facility with state-of-the-art technology will be built across 150 bighas at Borboruah on the outskirts of Dibrugarh town.
“The ground work for the venture has begun and the group’s target is to complete the project by 2025. Initially, it will be a 250-bed hospital and later we will go for its expansion. Assam is our first target and subsequently we will focus on other parts of Northeast,” said Simanta Sharma, group head, (brand, marketing and corporate communication), BR Life.
The initial investment to be made in the facility in Assam is estimated to be about Rs 150crore.
It may be noted that BR Life’s healthcare initiative in Assam is an outcome of ‘Advantage Assam’ initiatives of the Assam government.
BRS Ventures has already taken over Assam Company India Ltd, the world’s first tea company.
Currently, BR Life operates five hospitals in India, two hospitals in Afghanistan and one in Egypt.
Apart from patients in the south bank of Brahmaputra, those from the north bank in Upper Assam and Arunachal Pradesh will have easy access to advanced and affordable healthcare, once the hospital comes up in the area, which is in close proximity to the newly-opened Bogibeel Bridge.
BR Life plans to set up more super specialty hospitals with healthcare services like telemedicine consultations and artificial intelligence in healthcare in the country.
