HYC drives away 25 labourers brought from outside

SHILLONG:  Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC), Mawlai circle, conducted the anti-influx operation called Sier Lapalang Operation and drove away 25 labourers who allegedly did not possess valid documents.

In a statement issued here, general secretary of the HYC Mawlai circle, Bashan Lyngdoh Mawnai, said the anti-influx operation was conducted from Mawai Mawroh till Mawlai Nonglum, Mawlai Umjapung up to Mawlai Mawiong rim.

In the operation, the HYC drove away 25 outsiders, three in Mawroh, seven in Nonglum, 10 in Mawiong and five in Mawiong rim.

Mawnai said the Sier Lapalang operation formed part of the demand for implementation of Inner Line Permit (ILP) in the state. The organization has warned the Khasi contractors not to employ outsiders without proper documents.
