RPF recovers morphine packets thrown out of Rajdhani Express

GUWAHATI: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of NR Railway has successfully intercepted smuggling of contraband goods and recovered narcotics and cannabises valued at Rs. 35.49 lakhs in separate operations during May 20 to 26 May last.        

In one such case on May 20, 2019, a team of RPF based at Guwahati recovered 500 grams morphine in plastic package valued at Rs. 35 lakhs. The packets were thrown away by some unidentified persons from the Train No. 12423 DN  (Rajdhani Express) while the train was leaving Guwahati Railway Station. Later, the unclaimed morphine was handed over to Government Railway Police/Guwahati and a case was registered., the CPRO of the NF Railway informed.    

In another case on May 21, 2019, a RPF team of Hojai under Lumding Division recovered four packets cannabis weighing about 7 kgs while conducting a routine check in Train No. 12526 (Dibrugarh-Kolkata Express). The recovered cannabises were valued at Rs 49 thousands.
