SHILLONG: Newly elected MLA from Selsella constituency Ferlin CA Sangma was sworn in as member of the 10th Meghalaya Legislative Assembly by Speaker Donkupar Roy here on Wednesday.
Speaking to media persons, the bureaucrat-turned-politician said that she is committed to work for the development of the people of her constituency.
Asserting that Selsella constituency is one of the under-developed constituencies, she admitted that it will be an uphill task for her in the next four years to work for its growth and development.
She said that she would lay special emphasis on education and road connectivity.
Sangma defeated her nearest rival June Eliana Marak of the Congress by a margin of 4,396 votes in the by-poll that was necessitated by the demise of Congress MLA Clement Marak.
The NPP now has 21 MLAs in the 60-member House.
