Almiron, Perez named in Paraguay squad

Asuncion; Newcastle United attacker Miguel Almiron and Espanyol winger Hernan Perez have been named in Paraguay’s 23-man squad for the Copa America in Brazil.
West Ham defender Fabian Balbuena, Bologna striker Federico Santander and Santos forward Derlis Gonzalez also made the cut, the Paraguayan Football Association said in a statement on Wednesday. As expected, there was no place for former Bayern Munich and Manchester City striker Roque Santa Cruz, who was forced to withdraw from a preliminary squad because of a knee injury ahead of the tournement.
The Copa America will be played in five Brazilian cities from June 14 to July 7. Paraguay have been drawn in Group B alongside Argentina, Colombia and Qatar.. The 2019 Copa América will be the 46th edition of the Copa America. (PTI)
