HPDA president arrested for extortion

JOWAI: The self-styled president of the Hynniewtrep’s People Defence Alliance (HPDA) was arrested on Wednesday on charges of extortion.
Solomon Rymbai of Khliehtyrshi village was arrested by a team of Jowai Police and was later handed over to Ladrymbai police, East Jaintia Hills since a case of extortion was registered against him under Khliehriat Police Station.
Earlier, Ladrymbai police arrested two of his accomplices who named him as their president. The two accomplices were identified as Andrew Lamare and Teimi Dkhar (Sniehkhroh).
Police also seized various letter heads and receipt books and informed that Lamare and Dkhar were first apprehended by the VDP of Ladrymbai, Khliehdupon.
