SHILLONG: The Director of Mineral Resources (DMR) on Friday clarified that no coal-laden truck passed through Nongdomprut check-gate till May 27, as per report from Mines Royalty Inspector in-charge Nongdomprut in West Khasi Hills. There were media reports that the trucks passed through Nongdomprut check-gate.
In a rejoinder, the DMR stated that the village from where loading of coal took place is beyond the Nongdomprut check-gate near the Assam border, and as per information, the coal stock was inside the forest.
The Mining Engineer of Directorate of Mineral Resources has been deputed to verify the coal stock physically along with the magistrate of the DC’s office, West Khasi Hills, and take appropriate action.
Earlier it was reported the DMR and transport department check-gate at Domprut in West Khasi Hills has been losing revenue that it earns through issuance of challans with not a single coal truck going through the area since the Supreme Court has allowed transportation of the mineral from May 17-31.
