SHILLONG: The newly elected MP from Shillong, Vincent Pala, has said that the MDA partners did not get time to rally together for the Lok Sabha polls since they had fought the district council polls separately.
In the district council polls prior to the Lok Sabha elections, all the coalition partners had fought separately and it was difficult for them to come together within a short span of time, Pala pointed out.
According to Pala, if there was already an alliance during the district council elections, then this would have helped the MDA during the Lok Sabha polls.
Pala won the Shillong seat with a record margin of over 1.52 lakh votes.
The UDP president Donkupar Roy and MDA common candidate, Jemino Mawthoh, had recently reiterated that all the coalition partners had worked for the common candidate allaying any mistrust within the MDA.
