Meghalaya CLP wants Rahul to continue as AICC chief

SHILLONG: The Congress Legislature party which met here recently reposed its faith on the leadership of AICC president, Rahul Gandhi to continue as the party president.

Talking to media persons here on Monday, CLP leader, Mukul Sangma said that in the recently held Congress Legislative Party meet, they decided to appeal to the AICC president Rahul Gandhi not to resign and continue to guide them.

He said that the landslide victory of the BJP, the whole electoral process, political discourse and the resultant outcome of the election shall be another source of learning for all the leaders of the political parties.

It may be mentioned that the state Congress are reduced to 19 MLAs only in the House of 60 in Meghalaya and Dr Mukul Sangma had lost the prestigious Tura Lok sabha seat to NPP candidate in the Lok Sabha polls  to NPPs  Agatha Sangama with a marging of over 60,000 votes.    

He said that the CLP believed that the party had responded the call for duty to flag the issues.

When asked if he would take the responsibly of party’s poor performance in Meghalaya where it lost Tura seat and as well as by-election to Selsella Assembly seat, Mukul Sangma said that there were many issues which were discussed in the party but not shared with media.
