Man fakes his own abduction

SHILLONG: A man faked his own abduction to avoid payment of outstanding dues. Police said a report was received on May 31 about the abduction of Samirul Islam at Lower Bamonpara near Tekteng A’ding West GaroHillls.
However, on June 6 around 9.30 am, police spotted Samirul Islam
at Rongbretgre village near 13th Mile and took him to Dalu police station.
During interrogation, Islam revealed that he faked his own abduction to evade payment of outstanding dues to the villagers of South Garo Hills for purchase of betel nuts and cashew nuts.
In this connection, police arrested Islam.
Police said the accused created a lot of drama and police was shocked as to how come a new gang has come up when many of the members of the gang active in the area are in the jail.
Police said a case will be taken up against Islam.
