Kia Motors announces NE foray

GUWAHATI:Korean automobilemanufacturerKia Motors has announced its decision to foray into the Northeast market with an exclusive outlet at Sarusajai here later this year.

“The Northeast is an untapped market but with great potential. We have already appointed a dealer in Guwahati,” Yong S. Kim, executive director and chief sales officer, Kia Motors India, said here on Tuesday.

Kia has set up its first manufacturing facility in India at Anantapur in Andhra Pradesh and trial production began in January 2019.

The company, along with its vendor partners, invested US $ 2billion in the plant which has an annual manufacturing capacity of 300,000 units.

“We are all set to launch mid-SUV, ‘Seltos’ on June 20 and subsequently we have set a target of launching a new car every six to nine months,” Kim said.

Kia Motors made its debut in India at the Auto Expo 2018.
