KHADC leaders meet Union Finance min

SHILLONG: KHADC Deputy CEM Pyniaid Sing Syiem and Executive Member Titos Chyne on Tuesday met the Union Minister of State for Finance, Anurag Thakur in New Delhi and sought Central assistance for various projects and schemes of the council.
Chyne later said that they had submitted a memorandum to the 15th Finance Commission during its Shillong visit.
“We want to promote traditional tourism and we also sought assistance for the construction of the new building for the council,” he said.
In the memorandum, the KHADC also asked assistance to strengthen traditional grassroot governance by having traditional courts in different elakas.
“We also want digitisation and computerisation of land records besides promoting traditional medicines,” the MDC said.
He said that the response from the minister was very positive and he has assured to look into the matter. Earlier on Monday, both Syiem and Chyne met Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and also submitted a memorandum to Union Minister of State in-charge Animal Husbandry Pratab Chandra Sarangi.
