SHILLONG: With the shutting down of Swiggy’s office in Dhankheti by the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC), the delivery executives are in a fix.
Speaking to The Shillong Times, a delivery executive said the authorities from KHADC visited the Dhankheti office at 12 pm and closed down the office for not holding a trading license to run the organisation.
“What will happen to us? There are more than 300 employees and over 95 per cent of us are locals. Some work as part-time employees while some as full-time. There are others who took loans to get a two-wheeler while some left their previous jobs to work with Swiggy,” he said.
He added there are employees who run their families and earn a living from this job. Swiggy, which is an online food delivery company, has been in operation for four months in Shillong.
The Swiggy employees are likely to meet KHADC Executive Member Paul Lyngdoh on Tuesday.
