JAC demands arrest of home guard’s killers

NONGPOH: Leaders of the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of Mawlai area on Tuesday met the Ri Bhoi Superintendent of Police, C Syrti, and urged him to arrest those involved in the murder of Dismarlin Lyngdoh Lyngkhoi on April 24 at FCI warehouse, 10 Mer in Ri Bhoi. Lyngkhoi was a home guard posted at the warehouse.
The JAC led by its Chairman Donboklang Kharlyngdoh, Secretary Seibor Lyngdoh Nonglait and STIEH leader Rani Kurbah expressed concern over the perpetrators of the crime still being at large.
Speaking to media persons after the meeting, Kharlyngdoh said that the demand of the JAC is not only to provide job to the victim’s family but also to take stringent action against the culprits as per law.
He also informed that a lawyer of the truck drivers involved in the killing tried to bail them out from the district court. After denial of the bail, they went ahead to move the High Court. Meanwhile, the SP said that the police had tried their best to arrest all the criminals and that they have also conducted raids at various residences of those involved but were unable to trace them.
He also informed that the state police had sought the help of Assam Police to cooperate in the case, and that very soon all those involved will be arrested.
