Ampati: Concerned over the dismal performance by the students of the district and very low pass percentage in the SSLC examination 2019, South West Garo Hills (SWGH) District Administration, under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Ramkumar S, has started free-of-cost coaching classes for class X students in 24 coaching centres across the district.
This initiative is aimed at enhancing the performance and improving the pass percentage of class X students of the district in the forthcooming SSLC examination.
A meeting with regard to this effect was held shortly after the declaration of SSLC examination results 2019 under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner and resolved to set up 24 coaching centres which have already started functioning since May 18 last.
It was also decided in the meeting that BMCs and CRCs would visit these coaching centres monthly to collect the progress report of the students from the respective heads of the centres and that class tests would be taken to evaluate the progress of the students after the completion of each chapter.
The Deputy Commissioner has himself inspected these coaching centres and interacted with the students undergoing coaching along with the education officials of the district.
For the convenience of both the teachers as well as students, the coaching classes are conducted from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm on Saturdays from May 18 which will be held till June 15.
However, after June 15, classes will be temporarily suspended for half-yearly examinations and summer vacations in the schools.
The classes will resume from first week of August till October, before the commencement of SSLC Selection Test.
Thereafter, the classes will resume for the selected SSLC candidates till February 2020.
Subjects like English, Mathematics and Science are being taught in these coaching centres and the most efficient teachers of these subjects from various schools of the district have been recruited for the purpose.
