Punjab govt delegation wants permanent solution to Punjabi Lane issue

SHILLONG :The high level delegation of Punjab Government sent to Meghalaya on Thursday stressed upon the need to come out with a permanent solution to Punjabi Lane relocation issue and settle the matter for once and for all.

The Punjab government delegation led by Punjab Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, had a meeting with the state Home Minister at the state secretariat. Soon after the meeting Randhawa said that all were well and they were satisfied with the assurances of the Meghalaya govt. He said that the Meghalaya government was sincere to come up with a long lasting solution which even they are looking for and they have all the faith in the govt.

Meanwhile, State Home Minister, James Sangma said that they had assured the delegation on the safety and security of the residence and that the govt was trying to find a permanent solution to the issue.

The delegation had on Wednesday visited Harijan Colony (Punjabi Lane) and interacted with the residents there to quell any fear existing after the threat.
