Missing girl ‘eloped’

JOWAI:  After a seventeen-year-old girl went missing since June 18, West Jaintia Hills police swung into action and found the girl from Sohryngkham village in East Khasi Hills.
According to West Jaintia Hills SP, Lakador Syiem, he informed that the girl reportedly went missing since June 18 and a complaint was lodged by her mother of Mynska village under Shangpung Elaka.
Basing on inputs from various sources the Jowai police came to know that the girl was in Sohryngkham.
The Jowai women police led by B Shadap rushed to Sohryngkham and rescued the minor from a resident whom she allegedly eloped with.
A senior police official informed that the girl was sent for medical examination and if found that she had any physical relationship with the man, the police will register a case under appropriate section of law particularly when the girl is a minor.
