SHILLONG: AICC general secretary in-charge North East Luizinho Faleiro has left it to the party MLAs to discuss if they want a change in the CLP leadership while stating that restructuring and reorganisation of the party will take place at all levels within a month.
Asked if the party is open to the idea of changing the party leadership in the state, Faleiro told reporters on Friday,” It is up to them to discuss. The Congress is a democratic party.”
The AICC leader, who was here on a two-day visit, however, reiterated that he has not been informed by the MLAs about any demand to change the leadership.
According to Faleiro, consolidated reorganisation of the party at all levels is on the cards and the party will identify the areas where it is weak.
Maintaining that all the Congress MLAs in the state are together, he said differences among human beings are common.
He further urged the MLAs to meet each other frequently and be more open about discussing issues and integrate themselves into the organisation.
Earlier, he said that the party will honour the best block and booth committees where the party secured the highest votes in the last elections for their hard work. Besides, the Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee will visit the blocks to find out the problems and strengthen the party base accordingly.
He admitted that the party is going through difficult times and is doing introspection to identify its weaknesses and strengths.
