SHILLONG: Like his name suggests, Iron Zeal Wreang made untiring efforts to create enthusiasm among the voters during the recent Lok Sabha polls.
For his efforts, he has been featured on Election Commission’s online capsule of poll champions as he went beyond the call of duty.
He was felicitated and recognised on Friday in the city by the office of the Chief Electoral Officer for his efforts to bring voters to the polling stations by creating awareness on EVMs and VVPATs.
The chief electoral officer Frederick Kharkongor said living up to his name, Wreang demonstrated unmatched zeal and iron resolve in his duties.
Kharkongor said Zeal, a government employee, travelled for over two-and-a-half months along with awareness teams on the mobile democracy van, covering all traditional markets all over the state reaching all the 60 Assembly constituencies. “He provided training and awareness on EVM, VVPAT machines besides other electoral aspects. He did not miss a single road show”, Kharkongor added.
