SHILLONG: A felicitation programme was organised by Thomas Jones Memorial School, Lumparing on the occasion of Thomas Jones Day on Saturday.
The school felicitated students who have passed their SSLC exams along with Nazreen Nongdhar, who won the ‘best defender’ award at the Hero Sub-Junior Girls National Football Championship held in Odisha this year.
Streamlet Dkhar, Dean of Humanities, NEHU, who attended the programme as the special guest spoke about the contribution of Thomas Jones as a pioneer in Khasi Literature.
Others who were present included representatives from the Seng Longkmie of Lumsohphoh, Lumdorbar and Lumparing Rum along with parents and well wishers of the school.
Students performed skits and musical numbers while the organisers also held a screening of a film titled ‘Ka Nabon’.
