Williamnagar Municipal Board prohibits rearing of pigs

WILLIAMNAGAR: The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Williamnagar Municipal Board (WMB), under the provisions of Municipal Board Act, 1973, has prohibited the rearing of pigs under Williamnagar town area.
The order has come in view of reports concerning the outbreak of Japanese Encephalitis (JE) and to prevent the likely increase of malaria causing mosquitoes.
The official notification stated that the presidents and secretaries of local area development committees under Williamnagar town had been given instructions to prohibit rearing of pigs and to remove the stagnated water in their respective localities in order to prevent the spread of malaria.
