Alleged harassment condemned

SHILLONG: The All Meghalaya Association of Persons with Disabilities (AMAPD) has condemned the alleged harassment of a few visually challenged persons staying at Ranee’s Abode as tenants.
In a statement issued on Monday, AMAPD president Elkin Rynniaw said
According to Rights of Person with Disability Act 2016, Section 92, clause (a) and (c) Whoever, — intentionally insults or intimidates with intent to humiliate a person with disability in any place within public view is discrimination and any person having the actual charge or control over a person with disability voluntarily denies food or water to him or her is discrimination. AMAPD, Shillong, while condemning this atrocious act said that assault have discriminated against these persons and violated their basic human rights. The association has urged the government to take strong action against the people who are involved in the assault of the PWDs.
