GUWAHATI: Union Minister of State for Food and Civil Supplies, Rameswar Teli on Wednesday met the Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizer, Sadananad Gowda along with other BJP MP from Assam to discuss about the rejuvenation of the Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizer Corporation Limited’s (BVFCL) units at Namrup in eastern Assam.
Teli later told media that the Union Minister Gowda had assured to provide adequate fund for rejuvenation of the fertilizer unit which has been hamstrung due to paucity of gas supply. He said the Union Minister also assured to provide a special package for bailing the fertilizer units out of the present crisis.
Teli further said that there should not be any apprehension of shortage of natural gas required for feeding the fertilizer units as Tinsukia district in eastern Assam had proven reserve of natural gas and many private companies were set to produce gas in various parts of the district soon.
