Cattle smuggling kingpin brought from Bihar

Guwahati: An alleged kingpin of cattle snuggling racket to Bangladesh, Mohammed Sarfaraz, who was arrested in Bihar last week, was brought to Assam on Monday.
Following a direction from Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, the Assam police launched a major crackdown against cattle smuggling and arrested its kingpin Sarfaraz from Pandey Parsa under Phulbaria PS of Gopalganj district in Bihar.
A team of the Crime Branch of city police, with the help of the Bihar Police, arrested Sharfaraz on Saturday and brought him to the city on Monday.
The police arrested Sharfaraz on charges of smuggling cattle to Bangladesh on the basis of the confessional statement of another accused Dildar Hussain, who was arrested earlier.
The Assam Police have continued its investigation further regarding the issue. (UNI)
