Ambassa: A student of class VIII was caught red-handed with syringe and brown sugar in the prestigious Kamalpur Government English Medium Higher Secondary School in Dhalai district here on Thursday. The sensational and alarming incident happened when the classmates of the minor boy found him in some unnatural drowsy condition in the class and informed the teachers. The teachers searched him and found a syringe and a small container of brown sugar half filled. Then he was kept in a separate room, meanwhile the police was informed. The Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) along with the Officer in Charge (OC) of Kamalpur police station rushed to the school. In an interrogation, the boy admitted that he got into the habit of taking drugs from a local drug seller for quite some time. Then the guardians were summoned and the boy was handed over to them. Interestingly, his father is the Traffic unit in-charge of Kamalpur and an Assistant Sub Inspector of Police. (UNI)
