SHILLONG: The Additional Deputy Commissioner in-charge of Pynursla Civil Sub-Division has prohibited plying of trucks carrying materials above the permissible limit of 9 tonnes over the Dawki bridge.
The order was issued in view of reports that though restrictions were imposed regarding the maximum permissible load for plying of heavy commercial vehicles over the existing Dawki bridge across river Umngot from the office of the Executive Engineer, PWD (Roads),
National Highway Division, Shillong, there are still some overloaded trucks carrying materials beyond the permissible limit plying and crossing illegally over the already overstressed bridge which may cause further damage to it.
