TURA: The body of a BSF jawan who fell into the water of Pelga Falls near Tura on Sunday was recovered on Wednesday.
The jawan, Dharamveer Singh, belonging to the 55th Battalion of the BSF deployed in Garo Hills, was retrieved two kilometres downstream of the Ganol river by rescue teams of the BSF, police and SDRF after three days of gruelling search. “The jawan’s body was found around 6:30 in the morning and all formalities have been conducted before handing it over to the BSF authorities,” informed SP, WGH, MGR Kumar.
The jawan had gone on a picnic with a group of his friends from the force to Pelga Dare falls in the outskirts of Tura on Sunday when tragedy befell him. He reportedly fell into the river and was swept away by the strong water current.
