RPF rescues children, arrests 7

GUWAHATI: Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) rescued 12 minor boys and girls from different stations and trains during the last week of June before the children could be lured by anti-social elements.
During this period, RPF has successfully arrested seven criminals who were involved in various types of crimes against railway passengers.
In one such cases, on June 27 last, CPDS (Crime Prevention & Detection Squad) of CIB team of Katihar, during routine checking at Katihar Railway station, apprehended five persons involved in theft of passenger belongings by administering sedative drugs with recovery of sedative tablets (28 Ativan tablets 2 mg), cash Rs 2000 and one mobile phone stolen from the passengers from their possession.
It may be mentioned that the RPF of Guwahati on June 30, conducted a drive against anti-social activities at concourse area of the Guwahati railway station.
The railway police personnel, in the course of inspection apprehended one person with recovery of one bag, three money purses, one mobile phone with SIM, two PAN cards, one Voter ID, one SBI ID card, one ATM card and Rs. 5070 in cash stolen from the passengers.
In another such incident on June 30, RPF team of Mariyani station apprehended one person which resulted in the recovery of two mobile phones which were stolen from the passengers travelling in the railways.
Later, arrested persons along with recovered articles were handed over to the Government Railway Police (GRP) for further course of action.
