ITANAGAR: Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief (AOC-in-C), Eastern Air Command, Shillong, Air Marshal RD Mathur called on Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (retd) BD Mishra at Raj Bhavan here on Thursday.
During the meeting, they discussed about the recent AN-32 aircraft crash, air assistance to the state government and its people during emergencies and other situations and scope for employment of local youth in the Indian Air Force (IAF).
The Governor conveyed to the AOC-in-C his deep condolences for the bereaved families of the Air Force officers and personnel who lost their lives in duty in aircraft crash last month.
“The people of Arunachal Pradesh share the pain of the irreparable loss and will always remember the sacrifices of the Air Warriors,” the Governor said.
It may be mentioned that the AN-32 aircraft with 13 persons on board crashed in Arunachal Pradesh on June 3 after it took off from Jorhat (Assam) airbase for Mechuka Advanced Landing Ground (ALG).
The Governor also conveyed his appreciation to the EAC for its help in recently concluded Lok Sabha and Assembly elections, and the proactive role played by the Command in providing assistance to the people of Arunachal Pradesh during emergencies and call of duty.
The Governor, who has been spearheading the effort for the employment of local youth in the Indian Armed Forces through his programmes like ‘Pay back to Society Group’, asked the Eastern Air Command Chief to explore the possibility for an enhanced quota of recruitment for the youth of Arunachal Pradesh.
The AOC-in-C also called on Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh Pema Khandu.
He discussed various issues and assured all assistance to state government, in his first meeting after he took over as AOC-in-C, Eastern Air Command. (Agencies)
