Cement companies warned on coal import

JOWAI: The All Jaintia Cements & Clinker Transporters’ Association (AJCCTA) along with the Coal Suppliers’ Association (CSA) have issued a warning to all cement companies operating in East Jaintia Hills against importing coal from other states.
The decision was taken up during a meeting between the AJCCTA and CSA held recently at Sweet Chilly Hotel in Mynkre, East Jaintia Hills.
CSA president Hambertus Nongtdu also warned all individuals who are involved in transporting coal to cement plants from outside the state.
AJCCTA president Balen Thubru informed that shortly after the meeting, leaders of both the associations held a meeting with cement company officials and apprised them about the resolution which has been taken up.
The AJCCTA also congratulated the MDA government led by Chief Minister Conrad Sangma and Lber Laloo who is the petitioner at the Supreme Court for lifting the NGT ban on coal mining in the state.
