‘NE youths reluctant to join armed forces’

SHILLONG: Youths from the North Eastern states including Meghalaya have been found lagging as far as joining the armed forces is concerned.
Brigadier VM Sharma, Deputy Director General, North East States told newsmen here on Saturday said that there is a need for improvement in educational and physical standards in some of the states in the region.
Lamenting that the Army has not been encouraging the entry of candidates from certain states in the NE including Meghalaya, he harped on the need to create awareness and to motivate youths to join the armed forces.
