Rates revised
The Managing Director, Meghalaya Tourism Development Corporation Limited (MTDC Ltd) has informed that its Board in its 162nd meeting held on June 7 has relaxed the rates of Hall charges in Pinewood Hotel, State Convention Centre, Shillong and in Orchid Lake Resort, Umiam, for organising various events and programmes by individuals and groups. Details of the revised rates are available with the respective units which will be effective from August 1.

IMFL raids
The Deputy Commissioner (Excise), West Garo Hills, has informed that the department had conducted raids in the entire district and have arrested 30 persons under Section 53 (1) (a) of ME Act during the month of May and June. A total of 30 cases were detected with seizure amounting to approximately 57.39 litres of IMFL, 52.65 litres of beer and 11.56 litres of i/d liquor. In this regard 25 cases were disposed off and a fine amounting to Rs. 53,900 was realised.

Office bearers
Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) has elected office bearers for the KSU Tlongpleng Unit on July 13. The president is Planling Snaitang, Banshemphang Snaitang – vice president, Ïalamlang Stiemlieh-general secretary, Amplias Syiemlieh-assistant general secretary, Shainingstar Snaitang-organising secretary and Shinning Syiemlieh-finance secretary.

Chess competition
The Meghalaya Chess Association along with Khasi Student Union central body will hold the 1st U Tirot Sing Syiem Memorial one-day Rapid Chess Tournament, 2019 to commemorate the death anniversary of U Tirot Sing Syiem at Memorial Hall, Lower Lachumiere, Shillong at 10 am on Wednesday. There will be three categories – Under-11, U-15 and U-18 for males and females and Open category others. There will be altogether 22 prizes.
