City boy selected for reality show
SHILLONG: Gabriel T. Mawlong, a resident of 5th Mile, Upper Shillong and a native of Mairang, has been selected to compete at the Indian Talent Fight 2019 to be held on the month of August. Mawlong, who is a Hindi singer, has approached the All Meghalaya Dancers Association to help him financially by looking out for sponsors. On this note, the association has urged the state government to take notice of the talents in the state.

Rotary Club board of directors
SHILLONG: The 63rd Installation of the new president of Rotary Club of Shillong Rtn David T Umdor along with the New Board of Directors, was held on Saturday at the State Convention Centre in the city. The chief guest during the function was Rebecca V Suchiang, Additional Chief Secretary, the guest of honour was DM Thappa , Director of North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) and the special guest was the district governor-3240 Rtn Debashish Das.

AFWWA holds contest
SHILLONG: The Air Force Wives Welfare Association (AFWWA), Eastern Air Command (EAC), on Monday organised a declamation contest in Hindi and English for the wards of air warriors. The winners of such competition held in different Air Force bases under EAC participated in the contest for selection to represent the EAC region in Delhi. During the event, the students opined on topics such as—Artificial Intelligence: A threat to humanity, Should military training be made compulsory for our youth and National identity Vs Regional identity. A workshop on ‘Oratory skills’ was also conducted thereafter. The participants were also taken for sightseeing to Matilang Park, View Point Laitkor Peak and Don Bosco Museum.

Unclaimed body
Shillong: The Joint Director of Health Services (SS), Civil Hospital, Shillong, has informed that a patient named Kalu Chettri (50), who was admitted in the Male Medical Ward-I, has expired on Friday at 06 pm. All concerned are requested to collect the body from the hospital’s morgue within a period of three days, failing which the body will be send for disposal by the Shillong Municipal Board.
