Tawang administration follows NGT norms for clean, green environment

GUWAHATI:  The administration in picturesque bordering district of Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh has set out to manage solid and plastic wastes in tune with the relevant National Green Tribunal (NGT) order.

The administration has focused on in toto implementation of Solid waste Management rules,2016 & Plastic Waste management rules,2016. Segregation of dry and wet wastes have been made mandatory with effect from June 24 this year in the district.

Meanwhile, Urban Development Department in Tawang has introduced the bio degradable plastic garbage bags of 50 microns and above for collection of dry waste in Yellow/Blue and wet waste in Green bio degradable bags and a compost pit for dumping of wet waste has been prepared at the garbage dumping site.

The department has purchased a swachh machine/ Garbage destruction machine of 500 kg per day capacity for processing/burning of dry and wet waste.

There has been demand from different quarters before the district administration to constitute a flying squad to monitor ad check illegal use of polythene bags by shopkeepers in Tawang.

Tawang administration has put in place a practice of social service on every 2nd and 4th Friday of the month in order to keep Tawang clean and green.
