Uttarakhand promises Rs 5 cr to flood-hit Assam

GUWAHATI: Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Trivendra Singh Rawat talked to Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal over phone on Friday and took stock of the prevailing flood situation in the state. The Uttarakhand Chief Minister expressed empathy for the flood affected people and appreciated the Assam government’s relief and rescue operations.

During interaction, the Uttrakhand Chief Minister said that his government would extend all support to the Government of Assam to mitigate the devastation caused by flood in the state. He also informed Chief Minister Sonowal that the Uttarakhand government would contribute Rs. 5 crores to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to boost relief, rescue and rehabilitation measures of the State government.
