GH residents oppose officials’ transfer

SHILLONG: The residents of South Garo Hills and the NGOs comprising of A·kim Saldora Society, CEPARD, Garo Student Union, ADE condemned the transfer of two senior officers namely Charming N. Sangma, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Project Director of DRDA and Rejia Ch. Marak, Additional Deputy Commissioner, CEO Municipal Board Baghmara, South Garo Hills.
In a statement issued here, the locals and NGOs from Baghmara demanded the government to immediately retain the officers.
“Additional Deputy Commissioner, Baghmara, who is an efficient, upright officer and maintains a good relation with the people of the district. He knows to deal with any kind of situation in the region owing to the support of the people. It appears to the people of the district that same vested interested people with political motives are trying to thwart the good attempts of such upright officer of doing justice to the most neglected people of the South Garo Hills. We are saddened that the officer is being made a political victim,” the statement said.
The NGOs and the citizen of Baghmara have collected the opinion of the people who are
distressed because of the unceremonious transferred of ADC Sangma. “It is with this apprehension and premonition of things that we are opposing the transfer of Sangma and appeal to the highest executive of the state of reinstates him as ADC, Baghmara,” it added.
