Tree plantation programme
SHILLONG: A tree plantation programme organised by the Jharna Foundation, Shillong in collaboration with the SDO Office Mairang Civil Sub-Division and the Botany Department of St. Edmunds College, Shillong was held at Markham Village, West Khasi Hills from 12 pm onwards on Friday. Dorbar elects office bearers
SHILLONG: The working committee of the Raid Laban Dorbar held on July 27 elected new office bearers and executive member of The Raid lavan Dirbar for the term of 2019-22. The new office bearers are President Iosterson Sun, Vice President Doncaster Shabong, General Secretary Glanding Lungdo, Assistant Secretary Ros Shabong, Treasure HB Wahlang and Auditor Seibor Sana. All Rangbah Shnongs Secy Shnongs under Raid Laban Dorbar have automatically become the execuitive members of the dorbar. Other executive members who were elected include Obren Shanpru, RH Khongsngi, BK Wahlang, Auguster Lyngdoh and Banlumlang Blah.

BSF observes Kargil Vijay Diwas
SHILLONG: To mark the 20th anniversary of the glorious victory in ‘Operation Vijay’ the Kargil war, 141 Battalion BSF carried out series of activities in the border area as well as in West Garo Hills, Tura on July 20-26. The week-long programme carried out screening for movies/photo galleries showcasing contribution of the forces in national security at Sherwood School, New Horizon School, Kendriya Vidyalaya, ICFAI University and RVTI. A 5-km run was organised the BSF starting from Dhanakgre to Sora complex and back on Friday. Besides posters and slogans display and drawing competitions, a blood donation camp was also organised by the BSF on Saturday. AIR and DP Tura covered the blood donation camp organized by 58 & 141 Battalions at Dhanakgre campus.

Programme on civic action
SHILLONG: A civic action programme organised by 97 Bn Border Security Force (BSF), was held in Umkiang village on Saturday. During the programme, a multi gym hall was inaugurated by the Deputy Inspector General, BSF Sector Headquarter Jowai in the presence of the Commandant of 97 Bn BSF at BOP Umkiang for nearby bordering villages. BSF also established a computer lab in Umkiang to facilitate the local youths and students of bordering areas. Local civil administration and agencies representative were also present during the programme along with around 200 locals who expressed their gratitude to the friendly gesture demonstrated by the BSF.

Seminar on homoeopathy
SHILLONG: The North Eastern Institute of Ayurveda and Homoeopathy (NEIAH), an autonomous institute under the Ministry of AYUSH, organised a one-day regional seminar-cum-workshop on Saturday on the theme “Problems and Prospects of Homoeopathic Education in North-East India” at its campus in Mawdiangdiang here. The programme started with a scientific session presented by four teaching faculties of NEIAH on different topics related to the theme. Padmashree Prof. (Dr.) V.K Gupta, Chairman, Scientific Advisory Committee, CCRH, New Delhi was the chief guest who highlighted about the global scenario in homoeopathy. He spoke on the present challenges and need of introspection and retrospection in resolving these issues with suggestions for improvement. The programme concluded with a valedictory session where Nilanjan Sanyal (retired IAS), Chairperson, Board of Governors, CCH, New Delhi was the chief guest.
