JSU shuts down banks in Jowai

JOWAI: The Jaintia Students’ Union has shut down all banks in Jowai as they failed to honour the state holiday declared by the government as a mark of mourning of the sudden demise of Meghalaya Assembly Speaker, Dr Donkupar Roy on Wednesday.
The union led by its president Neal Jordan Rymbai and general secretary Aplang Lamare visited all banks and asked them to close to honour the state holiday. ‘When all schools, colleges and government offices remained closed on Wednesday, all banks in Jowai remained open”, the JSU said.
