Army nabs NSCN (R) militant in Upper Assam

GUWAHATI: In a major blow to militant organisations in Upper Assam’s Tinsukia district, a senior NSCN (R) insurgent was apprehended during a joint operation conducted by Indian Army and Assam police in the 9 Mile area of Jagun on Friday. Based on specific inputs received from reliable sources, the NSCN (R) insurgent identified as SS Sergeant Major, Daniel Sankey, was apprehended during the operation, an official statement said here on Sunday. One pistol with magazine and five rounds of live ammunition were recovered from him. The apprehended cadre has been handed over to police for investigation.
